The emperor city is one of the few to-go places in Johannesburg not too far from the city O.R Tambo International Airport. It is a large mega mall, casino and hotel all themed after a lavish palace, reminiscent of that of the Las Vega strip complete with glitzy sign boards and neon lighting. The area is private property, and security is all managed in-house to keep patrons safe.
Of course, like Las Vegas, no such establishment is complete without their staple Casino, which greets you the moment you enter the main building. You get the usual Casino bells and whistles too, like 24 hour buffets for visitors all round the clock. The Emperor Palace casino is connected to the mall part of the establishment, which I find as a non-gambler myself is a more entertaining part of the complex.
The family, lifestyle and entertainment areas are where most of the crowds come to the Emperor city. You get a large selection of food choices in single-floored the mall is themed to that of a Roman/Italian European town complete with central fountains, with a statue of David dominating the mall’s central atrium fountain. You get several merchandise and food stores lined along the themed walls here. A movie cineplex (NuMetro) is also located here showing the latest block buster movies.
Establishment like these a re pretty much most of the night life here in Johannesburg, and you will be good till late.
