I guess the army do really open up the world and perspective I have of people- like meeting all kinds of people from all walks and backgrounds. Namely a few outstanding ones like the rich and successful, the poor, the brokened, the orphaned, the sick, the rejects. Meeting up with such people is really very much a daily routine,...
*sigh* guess its pretty much the month-end (or in this case month-start) blues, just say its the blue period before payday. Due in 6days time, even as a specialist pay is a dull low $750 per month. As the army song goes they pay you hundred dollards, they take back 99.
Some spotlights these few days: life firing on saturday...
Play dutch heh? oh that might be the though most of us had today when my NS friend, ChongGen invited me and 3 more other platoonfriends for lunch today at some italian resturant near farrer road/serene center area. Before that, he brought us to his house so he could unpack his stuff and man it was big- about 5000...
The SCDF (SG civil defense force) dropped by camp yesterday morning, which was too the camp's annual safety day. In the morning there was a mock up fire with the fire fighters arriving in a Dennis fire engine and a light strike fire buggy at the scene of the "fire", setting up hoses to a nearby hydrant while concurrently...
yea, just woken up, having a simple bread and tea breakfast (lunch?) and getting on with my much needed sunday rest... why? just say I was very busy with some dumb SAF division exercise for the last four days (and so it woud carry on till next week.
Besides getting to work like slave office workers in front of...
Woke up at 12 noon today considering the lack of sleep the last few days, with my family out for my sister's tution. Love the new curtains, bedspreads, ambience and very "red deco" my mum had been put in the living room as part of chinese new year's tradtion, very nice.
And so it ends... the tedious 6 day nightmare.
Didn't...
There will be another fieldcamp next week, the last one in my course, marking the end of life a trainee and HELLO unit life! It wil be held at Tekong from early next week lasting till bout saturday-sunday (6-7days). Things to look forward to next week would hopefully *a-hem* be lesser rainfalls (it can get rather messy outfield), less...
The last week is one which truly tests one's ability to carry in all weather conditions- both in the sun and rain. Is was definitely not a "very" wet week but sometimes I feel that rain always come always so at the right moment when you are outdoors, in fact on two occasions (Mon and Wednesday). Personally I don't...
Its slightly less than 1 week into 2004 and my mum is all ready putting on chinese new year decorations around the house, all red, I see. Well Chinese new year is around the corner too, very exciting wonder how much ang pao money will I get this year....
Breakfast was special, as intended we, as a family had tim...
Slept on the bus on the way home today and missed my stop, one of the dumb things I ever get to do in life... I am just super tried today, normally I would try to stay awake to enjoy my weekends but today's an exception- having slept from 4.30am only to wake up at 7.25am yesterday to complete...
Having christmas day off camp is just like having another weekend (book out the day before and back the very next night) when you come to think about it, we NSFs are actually working 6 day weeks in the army, talking about worker exploitation! And on top of that we work 72 hours a week without overtime pay either,...
I am back from camp, all much really in one piece, almost got a fever last night (37.3) after some major mud pool crawling in the day. It just that typical cold and hot feeling- a tell tale sighn of some fever coming. Whats more we have to even eat lunch, rest and march back to camp from the...
Last week was a week full of missions, both interesting but rather demanding as well. It was like having 3 topo exercises all in one week, a mega combo dude. Did 7km in 36mins this week, not very good I say. Thurs had an expected nightsoff day, dropped down to orchard to reco a new phone for my dad,...
Its dang back-to-camp-time again, this time I am armed with more stuff for the week, namely 9 magazines (the most in a week so far), gameboy to keep me time-filled in camp, maybe... too during the guard duty on tuesday.
Hopefully I would be able to book out on friday, so I can take my driving lessons on saturday morning....
Tonight is book-in day again, after one month of out-camp training... *sigh* good "luxuries" have to come to an end. Got all my barang barang packed and ready. Here we go.
Currently Listening: Tatu - 30 Minutes (3:23)
"Get your stuff back by 8pm tonight in FBO with camo on, we would be going for a 7 day field camp afterwards" said my PC.. *all stunned*...
Haha, but it was only all a joke which left many of us very much momentarily shaken today after work. Though some of us expected it to be a joke, but he...
After arriving at the driving center this morning, the usual radio tuned @ Class 95FM was usually noisy at the locker shed. Namely making "noise" (aka celebrating) bout the Subaru Impreza challenge- a winner finally emerged after 66 hours and 53 minutes. Who? 36-year-old David Gerard Felix a chief flight steward won the car, finally... heheh, it fffiinallyy over.......
The was dirt bike off-road training today... I love the dirt (not literally), just feel that I-am-one with offroad vehicles, love the way they roar and handle over all terrain conditons, its just shiok, (esp clearing high hills motorcross style). Furthermore, rode with and as a pillion today, both at a circuit and PIE/CTE later on, got my campmate...
Mmm, so whats new? I mean passing bike tests in arow don't seem to offer much kick now, not to mention those who tried very hard to pass (opps!). So why the *freak* did I mention this? yea, becus I passed my public road riding test today... another test?... *raises arms momentarily* yay! oh well, *sniffs* One more week...
