Awarded Gloucester Research Prize

Cambridge university engineering prize day was held today. It’s a private award presentation ceremony for top students excelling for their past year work in the Department across all academic years. Here, students are awarded cash prizes in their individual categorizes, such as computing, structural design, etc.. with each award supported and sponsored by an engineering company (e.g ARM, Jaguar, BP, etc) looking to award excellence in their respective field.

I was honored to be one of the few recipients to be awarded the Gloucester Research Prize in appreciation for my contributions and cutting-edge industrial design in my computer aided design project (which at times, makes me wonder how applicable my achievement will be to the notorious applied-research culture evident back in Singapore). All our award-winning work were featured and displayed at the department board room, which was returned from external examiners after assessed by the department staff themselves on the last academic year. A buffet lunch was served in an open setting, allowing the prize winners to mingle with company sponsors, friends, and lecturers in a friendly networking environment.

There was an award presentation for the best lecturer award in the department too. Overall, there were 4 prize winners from my college itself across all 4 engineering years, making our college Director of Studies a rather proud man indeed.
