Social Outcast Burgers

Social outcast burgers is a western food burger joint tucked in a Tampines HDB heartland. Notably it sits inside a coffee shop along Tampines Street 22 at the void deck of Block 280. Lets check it out with a dine-in.

Moreover, the store is a halal and Muslim owned establishment, serving very affordable premium hand-made burgers. Most of their burgers are in the $10 price range. This puts them in the price category ahead and likes of Wolf burgers, and much more affordable than another known halal burger joint, such as Fat Papas and Fat Burgers.

The Social outcast Menu selections

Social outcast menu selections are pretty simple to choose from. On the menu are a selection of pasta, burgers and sides. Also, there is a small selection of Pastas catering for a larger market if you are not up for burgers. Here, we have their Pasta Shrimp Aglio Olio and Spaghetti with Portobello mushrooms priced in the $8.90 range. But what you are here for are the burgers. Their burger selections are quite extensive.

Burger recommendations includes their 400 days grain fed Australia Wagyu Beef ($19.90). This is their most premium offering. It comprises of a hand-made patty with a marbling score of 4-6 topped with Tomato, Alfalfa and really stretchy Cheese packed between toasted Brioche buns.

However, a gripe is that I noticed the wagyu burger disintegrates when you bite into it. After taking to the kitchen staff, it was a deliberate decision not to have the burger patty loosely binded together.

Sides with chips?

All burgers burger comes seated in an opened burger takeaway cardboard box, with one half dedicated to your sides of chips. Yes, you got that right, chips draped with mayo. It felt like quite an afterthought and was quite a let-down and out of the ordinary as burgers are best paired with fries.

Possibly one recommendation is for the outlet is the inclusion of French fries or even onion rings instead of potato chips for their sides. It does not fill you up too well as a meal in general.

Additionally, notably, all their burgers are grilled in charcoal and smoked hickory wood. There is also their Teriyaki Unagi ($15.90), essentially grilled Unagi with Alfalfa and toasted Brioche buns

Topping up the burger offerings, more affordable Burger options in the $10.90 range includes French Onion and Mushroom Beef, Roasted Chicken Mushroom and Sesame Mayo Portobello (All priced $8.90). Another recommendation is their more affordable Smoke Dried Chipotle and Guacamole Beef. The Beef patties are average without being too dry. The Guacamole servings on the bottom buns are pretty generous.

Moreover, their burgers are not very drippy, but still retain a degree of juiciness without giving you the overwhelming dry burnt-taste you typically get from charcoal and flame grilled burger patties.

Lastly, topping up their sides selections includes Chicken drumlets ($5.90), Portobello cheese bowl, Crispy chicken skin and Cherry Tomato Salad at an very affordable $3.90.

The store opens from 11am to 10pm, with last orders up at 9,30pm. It is closed on Tuesdays. The friendly kitchen staff and owners informed me during my visit that that they would be moving to a new location Simpang Bedok come April this year, it will be on the side where Spize is on the second floor.

All in all, Social outcast is an affordable burger outlet. However, their burgers are nothing too much to scream home about, though well-priced in a conducive quiet neighborhood worthy to check out if you are in town.
