Stores everywhere are putting up Christmas deco now, even before taking down their Halloween ones.. urgh! My mum obviously had nothing much to do, pulling me and my sis to a beauty spa at Midpoint, boring! Marche was the place for dinner and drinking yesterday, the grill area is having a chicken mushroom stew with mashed potatoes… *slurp* then theres the usual finishing pizza, with my usual toppings of pineapple, prawns, peppers, chicken and ham. Theres no onstage performance tonight and gutton’s competition today.. so no free desserts. Lol!

There will be lots of hot phones coming out 4Q, 2003/1Q, 2004, namely the Nokia 6230, 7700 and Siemens SX1. I am currently deciding between the few. The 7700 is a little tad large being a PDA phone, but I love the touch screen and the full screen standard websurfing style/ablity (though 640×320 is a damn small res for websurfing now, but its a far cry from the other phones). The 6230 and SX1 are both similar in features, only that the Nokia 6230 is an EDGE 3G phone, being smaller, lighter but spots a smaller 128×128 screen and don’t run the better Symbian 60 series OS like the Siemens one.

And mmm, the Subaru impreza challenge is on for some days, this time there definately more competitors in the game with more cars compared to last’s year’s only one car. I wish them luck on it, frankly I see much better things to do than just putting your hands on a car for days or even weeks in a row, well…. Singapore *aheh* is well known for such endurance, esp queue power…. so let them show their stuffs.

So much for island-wide dirt bike riding on Friday and the day before, only thing’s that last night’s night riding is definately more interesting than the rest- RAIN! yea, it definately adds to the thrill, danger and exciting, not to mention going at bout 75km/h max on the ECP.. kinda slow, but not on a bike!… fun! hehheh.. Public bike riding riding don’t scare me now… da horns just grow naturally on ya head, and I can say the same for the rest in my riding team. Coming up on next monday is an island-wide off-road adventure, time to get down and muddy….

Matrix revoluions will be outin 3 days time… yea! but for now…. I gotta get rid of those cappuccino stains left on the keyboard this morning…..

Ekk! Nokia again?

1

It had been sometime since I’ve used a dinky Nokia phone, (considering that my 1st two cellphones were Nokias, 880 and 3210). I had been a happy Siemens user since, always anxiously hoping (and waiting) for the release of the SX1 smartphone. But Siemens is very good at keeping their customers waiting- far better than I’ve ever expected, since june as a matter of fact. However, its all may start to change with the Nokia’s 7700, due to be released early next year.

It spots all the features of the SX1, only that its a 3G phone, plus a 640×320 touchscreen and a few nice extras. Its similarly compatible with the MMC cards I am using on my current phone and whats more than surfing the net and checking ya mail (or clearing junk mail) with this baby. It relatively small for its size too- feature wise, compared to Sony Ericsson’s “brick” aka P800, even the new P900/P810 don’t seem to raise much eyebrows either.

The only thing pulling me back from getting the 7700 is the dumb security features Nokia always have on their phones, not to mention the hassle of downloading games and ringtones – its always so restricted and inflexible compared to how Siemens does things, also Nokia is such a common handphone brand in Singapore- BORING. Mmmm… but if no other better phone were to be released during this “window period”, I would go for the Nokia then.

Pillion

The was dirt bike off-road training today… I love the dirt (not literally), just feel that I-am-one with offroad vehicles, love the way they roar and handle over all terrain conditons, its just shiok, (esp clearing high hills motorcross style). Furthermore, rode with and as a pillion today, both at a circuit and PIE/CTE later on, got my campmate to give me a lift home. It was fun, esp hitting 90-100 on the freeways.. whee!

Mmm, Matric Revolution’s gonna be up on da big screens soon… will be looking forward to that… yea!

So why the *freak* did I mention this? yea, becus I passed my public road riding test today… another test?… *raises arms momentarily* yay! oh well, *sniffs* One more week to the end of the bike course. Tomorrow- dirty-off-road-dirt-bike ridin’..

Lazy – I like!

So what to do in this humid sunday afternoon… Its JAVA MADNESS again, and there I was downloadin’ tons of freeware java midlets of the net. And there was the 2 dictionaries, (one Webster one.. whee) to name afew: a thesaurus, 20+ new games, scheduler, pda functions, movie and image viewers, email cilents, first aid manuals, references, vocab/graphing tool and mobile internet browsers… whew! and all these took up nearly 12MB on my phone’s storage space. I think when the Siemens SX1 phone is released, I would consider upgrading to a 1GB MMC flash card.

On top of that, my dad kinda went like DIY crazy and just replaced literally everyroom lamp and switch in the house (he had been planning… with his arsenal of tools and parts, todays sadly d-day), with the mains down for that, it kinda interupted my net access for the day, (not to mention the food warming and bacterial built-up in the fridge) And Mmm, the place do seem cleaner and brighter now, but I think it could mainly due to the freakin stained lamp old covers that seem to previously cast more shadows than light around the house…

Lazy sunday, shit! monday’s tomorrow, work-day, bike public road riding test… arghh!

Eat eat eat! (Marche BMT Dinner)

0

This is one outing I sure would not miss, considering that Johnson, my BMT bunkmate kinda “booked” us 1 month in advance for this outing (as we are always constantly unavailable). 6 of us (Johnson, JJ, Xingjian, Xiangrui, Jimmy & me, though we met Edwin unexpectedly later on & yea.. Dominic could not make it) managed to meet this evening since we passed out 3 months ago (and went our seperate ways in different units ever since). So theres Orchard for us.

As usual, there’s always lots of toking-cock-chit-chat bout national service, (guys at our age would normally talk bout this naturally and it also something which ours girls would normally dread when they tag along with us.) Zipped down the Marche @ Hereen for dinner, had the beef stew with mashed potatoes dish for $12.90 bucks. Then the good stuff comes FREE- outta blue there’s the hotdog eating competition, followed by the root beer drinking compo. So theres lots of SABO-ING and we got 2 guys from our group to compete in it. I won’t be amused if girls won them flat out (which they did) and man who said good guys always finish last? & sooo we didn’t win but we’ve won ourselves free drink and dessert vouchers for everyone in the group as consolation. Whats more tomorrow? Tim Sum lunch buffet at Miramar hotel! woot!

100km and beyond

It had been a day of firsts, namely travelling in the public road the whole day and working overtime (7am-9pm). Riding on the road is not so scary now, as I am more used to it by now. And yea, there was night training today, primarily to give us the experience of riding in the dark (therefore the late blog entry for tonight too, *yawn*) With that in hand, time to prepare for the last work day of the week, tomorrow and it would be a long weekend for passes (i.e the performers). Horray! And hey, today I travelled 110km today… *duh* the most I’ve ever went in a single day… *grinz*

Dangerous

0

Yicks! riding a motorbike on a public road had never been so dangerous (as I thought to be): Having big 10 wheeled dumpers, lorries, buses whizzing past you, vehicles tailgating, cutting in your lane, failling to give way to you, illegal turns and so… Fresh out of riding school (and being very traffic law abiding indeed), this’s so much for an experience of firsts! Man it’s the REAL THING! & I’ve never been so exposed on the road before, always seated comfortably in cars/buses (and I thought driving in GTA vice city was dangerous).

Even the P-plate on my bike don’t seem to do much justice…. No wonder why there are so many accidents involving motorcyclists everytime- with 2 fatailtys in Singapore weekly.. ekk! Now I know how it feel to be a motorcyclist on the road, after knowing their side of the story. When I get my class 3 car license by next year, I would always have this feeling behind my head to give-way to ’em or let them have piority in things… But of course there are too, limits which they can push courtesy to. *grinz*

Motorcycle prac test

0

Yippe! I’ve passed my skills balancing test today, together with my E-brake, push start and chalking up only 6 points in the circuit test. Thats 3 test hurdles passed throughout this driving course so far. Though its true that 1 outta 4 people won’t pass the test (10 out of 40 in this case), just hope that those from my course who failed will pass the retest tomorrow, (practice hard dudes). In the meantime, it would be public riding for me tomorrow. This time, without an L-plate, but a P-plate!

IQ test

0

Received my IQ test score today, it not very much the feeling of recieving a $1M in the mail or my dinky SAT scores, but just very ‘cool’. So why did I take that, well it was mainly outta few contributing factors, namely out of 90% curiosity, 1% ignorance, 1% evilness, 8% dumbness & and most of all its “for fun”. So what did I get? not the very much a freak score, but rather 139. Considering that Einstein scored 160 in his test, I guess I am rather much ‘ok’. With that in hand, it shouldn’t really add much shitload either. *sigh* Mind me, maybe I should go continue researching more on my time travel theory…

Catching Up

0

Ok then so the net is up on my side, missed a few potential WC3 matches with my NS friends onsite updates, forum visits, news and got tons & tons of much more junk mail to clear. Ya know bout the thing about these junk mail, they still keep coming after you try (unendlessly) to unsub from. And to think about it, they really think people online are all crazy about viagra, enlarging your privates of even tuning to digital TV for some personal business. This is really irritating, not to mention the deleting frenzys and possiblity of junking important personal mail lost in the pool of JUNK MAIL. *JUNK MAIL SUXS, twistys!* *wink* *wink*

Ok, so stuffs of the week worth mentioning. I’ve passed the Highway situational test on thursday, very easy it you get the hang of it. It makes me wonder why such 1-1 (student-to-tester) oral tests on traffic situations are scrapped in commerial driving schools. MMmm, partly because disagreements would normally mean tables and chairs flying here and there from party to party?

There would be balancing skill test next week, namely balancing on planks, rib bridges with timing, the notorious figure of 8 and salom the course, all followed by E-brake and (yea this one is freaking outdated) the push start tests. Must pass the test man, if not REMINDIAL. argh!

On the headlines, there had been alot of talk lately, mainly bout the freak accidents in Hendon camp. Dumbos, drowning people in survivor courses….

Modem down

0

The reason of my last 3 days ++ of inactiivty is largely, or should I say only caused by a dumb ethernet modem who probably got its ethernet ports fried on 12/7 usage for almost 365 days. So I may say, whats the use of a modem having its sys diagnotics and DSL connected lights on readily when it can’t even connect to my NIC? So after all the troubleshooting , etc etc, phheww! The speedstream 5260 when flying off my room and in came a new challenger, the aztech DSL305E which I just purchased at Cyberactive after work. And hey this ones comes with a reset button and just like my router, is configureable thru the browser, theres even a USB port option, niffy! Now lets see what it have to offer…
