New Camera

0

Dropped by Orchard today… again! this time quite late after dinner to purchase a new Nikon 35mm film camera, all in time for next week’s Passing Out Parade (POP). My older Canon camera had been giving problems with night shots and blurry pictures, and yea.. its time I’ve got a new film camera though, enough of digital ones for the time being too!

After making my purchase at Plaza Singapura, Best Denki (They had a good bundle too, the Litetouch 110SQD with a free tripod and Nikon dry camera storage box all for $218), I cannot imagine the amount of renovation works going on there now- though Liberty supermarket had been closed sometime early this year, yet the basement is still undergoing major works, so are the 3rd and 4th floors. Hereen had already given me so much renovation blues, now its PS’s turn.. grrr! On a lighter note, there are some new stores around, & though its around closing time.. yea, many are sadly of course, closed. Kopitiam food court had also undergone a recent facelift.. good though I like the new bright & cleaner look, better than the previous “dark adventure land theming”

Oh well, I guess thats all for now, heard from one of my NS friends (aka 2nd T-shirt IC) that the platoon T-shirt would be out tomorrow.. whee.. my design’s on it!..Moreover, will be bringing in lots of tibits and food for our “happy hour” this week, courtesy of our sgts… Party Time Dudes! BMT is coming to an end!

Long Weekend

0

Yup, I would be booking in this monday afternoon, extended weekend you may say, yea and thats good baby. Passed Ippt & Soc this week, and hey! I can safely put them behind my back now- Its all well deserved rest and relax, with 2 weeks remaining till POP (passing out parade). For those who did not pass the first test this week, dun worry, try your best in the retests to come and we will POP together in june dudes- There are no limits to your abilites!

Went to Nooch noodle bar for dinner with my family at Paragon, Orchard. Window shopped around around the area. Went to look and research on some new handphones, thinking its time I upgraded my SL45. Maybe considering an improved version of the Sony Ericsson P800 PDA phone, just hope a newer improved version comes out.. or should I wait for 3G then?

Been surfing around lately and this kinda caught my eye for a while, the Samsung’s Matrix Phone, woo neat!

“This is a CDMA phone and comes with a pop-up earpiece that snaps open at an instant. A button located on the side of the phone releases the spring-loaded earpiece when pressed…”

It runs on a CDMA network, so don’t expect it to be used here in Singapore. Also, when you come to think of it, yea… you can call it a souped up nokia 8910i with an overloaded Matrix theme… oh well, check out more here.

Maxtrix Reloaded

Went to Le Meradian, Orchard to play Counter-Strike with my NS friends, it had been sometime since I’ve played at a lan shop too. Long before then, the impression of lan shop computers are, wow! this comp kicks ass! But now, haha no more envy- my home comp rules now! Lol! Went to monster pool for some rounds of pool before heading to heeren to get “Busted CD” at HMV, wanted to get a new dance CD, but just can’t decide on one, may be considering WKRZ Dance mix Vol2 or The Best of Ministry of Sound CDs in the near future. As I carried on my shopping spree, I was quite disappointed they are renovating the 4 floors of heeren and PK computers is closed because of that, hope they will return after the renovations….

Took a short bus trip to Greatworld Food Junction to meet the rest of my friends for dinner, had my usual chicken chop rice.. ($4.30), my fav after the japanese food store. hehe. As usual before the movies, we all take the trouble of getting lots of excess food into the cinema (3 Matrix popcon Combo sets plus an upsized McChicken meal, two large fries, lots of curry, BBQ and mayo sauce and 6 drinks all to feed all 15+ of us) all done professional style! The cinema is packed to the max but luckily we got “relatively good seats” esp on a sat evening peak period. The Matrix Reloaded is much better than the first series in terms of action and takes on from the last series, allowing us to know more about it. However, as usual we eagled eyed people can recognize computer generated scenes everywhere, quite fake you can say. The movie ended with a matrix revolution preview at the end, oh well thats december madness to come…

On Camp stuffs, BMT is almost completed officially, as I’ve already passed the 3 main objectives in the syllabus (Ippt, fieldcraft and markmanship), the only thing left is to pass the SOC (standard obstacle course), pass the final Ippt test and go thru the SIT test (Situational test) which would be a 3day, 2night “holiday” outfield, aimed primarily is gauging one’s leadership ablities and stuffs. My BMT batch will be graduating on the first week on June and whew! time really flies, before you know it, BMT is over. Oh well, will be looking forward to it too, one hurdle completed. All that matters now is that after the SIT test, things will be very much easiler and relaxed in the weeks to come.. Yea!

Woke up this morning at around 6am to preapare for the visit OCS (Officer cadet school) and Singapore Discovery Center (SDC) tour, though its complusory and the facilites are kinda nice (ocs is almost like a holiday resort) its really boring and we kinda spent most of our time at the SDC cafe muching away hotdogs, drinks and icecream. One of my friends brought his Nokia 7250 phone and its really cool with the built-in camera, its completely hidden and you won’t notice anyone taking pictures, the only drawback? No flash and manual zoom is needed!

Will be meeting my friends later again at around cuppage area for some LAN Gaming, followed by the movie Matrix Reloaded in the evening at GV grand.

Its Vesak Day today and hey, wishin all those celebrating the occasion and alike a very happy vesak day.

And yea, it was a very tiring day yesterday. Some guys came down from some music company (most prob saf related) to film a short intro clip and advert for their new CD ablum, titled SAF songs- from our army. And whew, ya guessed that rite, my platoon was involved in it. And when possible dumb fame is eminent, this will also be my second-th time on TV in-camp since I enlisted in Feb this year. Didn’t know acting can be so tiring too- when you have to retake shots, NGs NGs (esp doing run pass shots again and again!). The acting kinda went on for sometime and it kinda all topped everything up with a dance (yea, dance man!) for the advertisment of the 2 CD product. A few old stars from, the movie Army Daze were there too and they kinda “stole the show too” heh… They do better issue us complimentary CDs for our hardwork…. :p

Passed hand genade handling tests later in the day, so live throws will come sooner or later… Ended the day with IPPT tests, maintained my silver standard with 21 points, would be going for gold the next time. Booked out around 8pm where my dad fetched me to wampoo hawker center for supper (their fish & chips rocks dude!) and back home thereafter.

And what’s there to end this week? Well, I would be awarded marksman for range shooting (hehe so much for Counter-Strike and Time Crisis arcade games) having achieved a 82% successful hit rate with my rifle. Heheheh… more badges for my uniform!

Well, thats all for now, tomorrow will be a short day at camp, will be booking in tonite and bookin out tomorrow night for the weekend again. & hello! Matrix Reloaded on saturday!

Mother’s day tml

0

Came back from camp around noon today, got changed and stuff, then got my dad to fetch me to woodlands MRT station @ Causeway Point after lunch, at home, all to collect some freshly baked mother’s day brownies I’ve ordered from one of my bunkmate’s girlfriend, hehe. Came back and finished gift preparations and wrapping for mother’s day. Would be giving my mum brownies, a card and photoframe with a specially printed family photo in it. Man will she be surpirsed!

Later in the day, went for dinner, shopping and more coffee! – Had an early mother’s day dinner with my family at Happy Pay steamboat resturant, Bugis. The food is just “ok” with fish head the place is also very crowded during dinner time, so we did some shopping at Parco before heading back there again. Brought a Bilabong wallet to replace my previously Damaged burberry’s, got a new pair of Sony street headphones too. After dinner and armed with some starbucks discount coupons, (courtesy of the starbucks counter girls.. hehe thx!) treated my family to some starbucks coffee, (2 rasberry mocha, a standard mocha fap and a coffee of the day plus cookies) had quite a chat there to keep up on the times (and to make up for time lost in-camp).. all till bout 11.30pm before heading home.

Wishing all those staying back for RT (remedial training) – have a good time at camp :p and pass your next IPPT! Will you enjoy your bookout tomorrow morning! LOL! *evil grin*

Dad’s Brithday Dinner

0

Just came back from dinner with my family- Had an early birthday dinner for my dad @ Swensens Liang Court. Ordered their chicken chop and chicken baked rice (yea had been eating alot lately), all topped with a topless 5 ice cream for dessert to share with my sister. Had been sometime since I had Swensens baked rice too. And yes it all went really great, awesome indeed, my dad all happy as usual, good for him 🙂 . Will be going to buy a present for him tomorrow at Suntec after watching X-men2 with my friends. Furthermore, with Diamuru departmental store closed recently at Liang Court, the place is really kinda quiet and empty now, compared to that last month where everybody’s all frantically rushing during the closing down sale, even you can get parking lots within the shopping center now (and not 2 blocks away previously), not to mention the major renovation works going on there now, due to excessive shop space left by the “defunct major tendant”. Shopped around after dinner and brought may’s edition of PC gamer and popular science at Kinokuniya. This issue of PC gamer have a nice article on grand theft auto vice city.. hehe very interesting indeed… :p *reads it well* And yea, here are some news and screenies on Halflife 2. Though I say, the improvements in graphics and eyecandies are not very great too, compared to UT2003 and the yet-to-come-DoomIII.

Oh well, thats all for now, hope I can wake up early to meet my friends tml, 10am at city hall MRT? argh!! *snooze*

(ohhh is that a card in the mail? hehe I am a safra club member now.. hehehahe *evil grin*)

Will be catching the show tomorrow morning @ Suntec.. and would most prob be having lunch at the fountain terrace with my camp friends thereafter. My dad’s birthday coming on the 5th of this month and so is mothers day next sunday too, so I guess I will take the opportunity to search for a present for them, when they are all not watchin over me!… Mmm looks like $$ spending week again… & darn am I broke!

In the meantime, me quietly plays battlefield 1942 and IGI2 in the darkness of my room.. hehe. Got my new game box shelf up in my room already, looks great, If I have the time, I may consider posting some pictures of it. So chaos in the meantime.

Back

Yup from am back from the 7 day field camp, so how you guys do doing my period of adsence? hehe… anyway, I had my experience to share here, a brief happening of Life !:

Field camp is ready all “all out there to get it” Out field, I really got to appreciate the life there, the wildlife ( not to mention several rare species of insects and arachnids ), the jungle, plantations and forest life, the sweat the dirt the pain and fatigue, thru hell and back you can say! My company, Foxtrot Company in BMTC is well known for their ‘gagang’ ( very “on” and enthusiastic) commanders. Other coys have their field camps basically jus for teaching and testing. On the other hand, ours was made similarly to that of an operation, our instructors got us to apply what we’ve learnt (from drills to fieldcraft) all day by day into our missions. With enemies here and there, with friendly and hostile forces..etc. its really immersive and very much like a war game, all thanks to our officer commanding (OC). Also, we got to march campsites to campsite daily while other companies got to take the tonner trucks ( darn! with our 10kg ++ full battle order its no easy task! ) yes very gagang indeed…. I was appointed platoon commander for 2 days courtesy of my platoon sergeant ( hehheh darn! :p ) and I say, it really taught me much on leadership and made me feel how its like to be in control of so many people. Moreover, during my time of command my platoon was really really cooperative, I respected them as much as they respect me and we got our tasks all done the way we wanted- great nicely and with minimal cock and screw ups ( not to mention the punishments.. lol! ). Personally, the best part of the camp is not only the bonding sessions with our superiors, but also, when I was alone by the campfire at night, spending time by myself, writing my dairy with a tin full of maggi noodles and hot coffee by your side- all after a hard long day of exercises, coupled with the sound of crickets chirping in the dark, a very pleasant experience indeed. Glad the worst is all over… for now

Break Period! Booked out the night where the camp ended and whew, a two day break with May day (a public holiday) being the 2nd day ( Tomorro ) Happy May Day!

And yea! what to do after 1 week of hell? go all the way to pamper myself man! Today- Had lunch at a family restaurant @ Bukit Merah with my mum before heading to Sim Lim Square for 2 new games ( Battlefield 1942 and IGI 2 ) and a WinTV TV tuner card ( hehheh, my computer have a remote now.. *evil grin* ), no more TV hogging at the living room now… Munched my way into a whooper meal @ Burger King Burglinton Square thereafter, before heading home to enjoy my new hardware. hehe!

X-men 2 the movie opens today, will be watching it soon… possiblity over the weekend.

Johnny English

0

Had dinner last night at food junction, favorite chicken chop rice before heading up to GV grand to collect my preordered tickets. For a 7.10pm show, the cinema is very crowded and we are glad we’ve made the early booking. Watched Johnny English with my family and I say, the show is completely aimed as a comedy- if you people want just pure laughter, go for the show. LOL It can really make people wonder how did atkinson get the role as a spy? beany as usual, but I guess thats his selling point in show biz.. sadly.. Lol! However, Natalie Imbruglia did look quite good in the show, good for her in stepping into the showbiz industry too. As for those seeking realism and a “better” storyline this show will tend to disappoint. Otherwise its not really worth the $8.50 for a 90min show.

Went to the newly renovated zion road hawker center for supper thereafter, had some fish & chips and desert before heading home to try out my two newest jazz cds brought from “That CD shop” (haha this time the salesgirls can’t charm me now! *I win*, but wait….2 cds? argh! )

On my research on the perfect and intended PDA, I am starting having second thoughts of getting a Sony clie Plam based OS, due to upgradablity options and multimedia. Therefore in my “rentless pursuit” I am now considering the HP ipaq 5450 as an alternative option, features an intel Xscale 400Mhz processor, built in bluetooth/Wi-fi unlike the clies and hey! its running pocket PC 2002, upgradable and costs much less than the clie PEG-NZ90!

Will be booking into tonight, and field camp will be on mid next week, wish me luck!

Devastation!

Well, heres a new game set to be released in the near future. As we can see most games are not onto the new UT game engine. Well one eyecatching one is one called devastation, heres the scoop:

On a future devastated Earth, powerful, corrupt corporations control remaining technology and rule what’s left of society. Pacification Squads, a brutal private police force, maintain order for the corporate syndicate.

The only hope for freedom is a small group of Resistance fighters made up of gang leaders, mercenaries and ex-military operatives. As the Resistance leader you must assemble your army and travel the globe, restoring peace and sanity in a very dangerous world.

Next-generation Unreal? Engine coupled with the MathEngine Karma? physics system provides dramatic visuals, ultra-realistic object physics, rag-doll deaths, and user-friendly mod tools….

Oh, well hope this will keep us entertained till doom III comes around. Blob to http://www.devastationgame.com/ for more, including a 177MB demo file.
