Afternoon shopping

0

Just came from from some “afternoon shopping” lolz. Dropped by funan to preorder command and conquer generals at the software boutique, funan. It will be out on the 11th Feb in Singapore comfirmed. Dropped down to PK computers store to check out on their offers and say! Lester, your name is still the last one on the list… only two ppl ordered so far.. LOLZ. Went to look at canon and epson printers, and may be considering the Canon S520 for $229 (student offer) Needed a photo printer possiblly to print my art work for sales in the possible future. The salesguy at PK computers attended to me and he’s really very funny, talked bout 1/2 hour bout the printers there, explained almost everything, maybe I would consider buying the printer from PK computers.

After lunch at a Jap resturant with my mum at funan, my watch went dead.. lolz, coincidentally too at 12 noon exact, dropped by the Swatch shop @ Raffles City for a battery change. Didn’t know swatch irony watches are such “battery eaters” didn’t use the stopwatch function often, but this one only lasted one year- the expected time the swatch reps there said too.. *duh*… quite funny as my other mid-range swatch watches are lasting at about 5 years on a single battery go! Checked out the swatch spring-summer collection and say, this collection don’t really appeals to me, consisting of mostly bright, gay and loud and I mean LOUD colours, not my taste (dark and cool… ) hehe.

The screen autosize feature don’t seem to work on netscape browsers, but only on internet explorer, making the site totally inaccessible. Will be fixing and working on it tomorrow asap. In the meantime, netscape users, please bear with me… 🙂 cheers

Another BYOPC Lan Party

0

Well, heres another lan party, a possible good “warm-up” before the March’s Singapore Frag Fest 03. It is organised by cjc81 through superpet forums, heres what he have to say:

  • Venue: Garden Hotel Function rooms, Singapore
  • Date: 2 Feb 2003
  • Time: from 7 pm onwards
  • Cost: Between $20 – $30 to cover drinks and venue
This is a tentative arrangement. I would like to see the response. So far, there are about 10 people interested in taking part.
Do let me know if you guys want to come.Since its purely Bring Your Own Computer, we will not be providing any hardware.

Networking equipment will be provided but its good if you guys can bring your own lan cables.

We are still working out the food arrangement. Drinks shouldn’t be a problem.

Hope to hear from you guys.

Interested? Let me know via the site’s contact form.

Techno Updates

Sony officials said the company will quietly phase out all of its 17-inch and 19-inch CRT monitors by March 31, part of the industry’s shift away from CRTs to LCD panels. Fans of the popular Sony Trinitron line of monitors and its related aperture-grill technology will be forced instead to purchase Sony’s 21-inch and 24-inch CRT displays. Sony’s decision came as no surprise to those who have closely watched monitor manufacturers slowly shift away from CRT production to manufacturing of LCDs. [ Clicky for more ]

Game Boy Advance SP
Nintendo has announced a new handheld gaming system: the Game Boy Advance SP, shipping in North America on March 23, 2003. The most welcome improvement on the original Game Boy Advance (GBA) is the addition of a screen-illumination feature. Also new is the form factor: The GBA SP flips open for play, making for a sleeker machine and allowing protection of the screen when you’re not playing. This stylish design is expected to appeal to adult players as well as to the younger GBA contingent. The GBA SP will come with a built-in rechargeable lithium ion battery rated for 10 hours of game play with the light in use, 18 hours without. Estimated battery life is 3 years (roughly 500 charges). Borging Video!

0

Started browsing through intervideo’s winproducer “getting started” file and I say, I will be trying my hands finally at DV editing quite soon. ( And a possible revival of the video section ) Kinda fed up with canopus’s EZDV video software, esp kinda messed up their capture tool, which left many hours wasted just trying to capture video from my camcorder. Well things are about to change now.. hopefully with intervideo’s software.

Videos in mind at the moment (planning script phase)

  • Class music video (Well, I’ve caught lots of cool footage from this)
  • Escape theme park video footage (this is real cool, esp bringing the camera on the rides)

Well, its a nice sunny sunday, unlike the last few, wet ones.. lolz

0

Anyway, Big Thanks all going out to those who sent in chinese new year greetings, from friends, relatives alike, in paper (physically) and digitally. They are all very nice, got to really find a place too actually store all of them for display.. 🙂
Also, on mail, received an unusual snail mail from NTU today, first time I am getting such a large post from them. Unlike NUS, (who always play hard to get) they are actually, kinda kind in including their latest university admissions and a nanyang scholarship form. Will be looking through it, (though I don’t fancy scholarships) *duh*

And oh yea, before I forget: Tei, Spunky_Wolf and Katanya, I’ve got your art requests (draw your character, draw a werewolf and a ninja respectively). Will be working on it quite soon.

Sleep deprivation

0

Well, this is one of the days where I get to wake up so early in the mornings… Yea gotta appreciate the mornings. Slept early last night (11pm), even coffee can’t keep me awake yesterday. Will be going for a nice sunny noon swim soon. Catcha back later.

Education scene

0

Had the SAT I reasoning test this morning.. and yup, it was relatively easy compared to the last time I took it. Didn’t studied for it as usual, partly because I don’t have the self control to sit down and actually make myself study. Moreover, partly too its a reasoning test- it is supposed to gauge your reasoning abilities, you can’t study for it! Well.. unlike most Kiasu (scared to lose) people in here which I obviously detest…. Anyway, for me, its the results in the end which have the final say.. coming in two weeks too *glup*

Talking bout this, many things had been going on the education system overseas. To end route learning, the SAT will too be revamped (as anticipated by many). And yea.. Britain is gonna scrap the ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels due to the complications and problems faced last, good they do so too. But Singapore is still kinda shortsighted and carrying on with the old system. If you’ve read today’s papers, the reason they gaveis “the lack of diversity the people here have” Man! Blame it on the people!

Anyway… yea. dude! If Singapore were to dump the Os and As… END with route learning and the dreaded Ten-Year-Series assessments, up and on to thinking & creativity- thats my kind of learning. *DUH!*
