Farewell National Stadium, Mizuno Wave Creation 8

With the National Stadium planned for demolition this year, what the least we can do to commemorate this old iconic landmark but to give it a visit and proper farewell before it comes under the destruction of the construction shovels. Met up with Meifang, Huida and Youboon at Kallang. The sports museum was closed when we were there, but that didn’t stop us from exploring the far reaches of the stadium itself, the grandstand and field. The track was in quite a very bad condition (no wonder no one goes there to workout anymore besides the fitness gym), coupled with the hot Saturday sun, it simply just melted under our shoes, in a way having us bringing back part of the stadium in the form of melted track material under our soles!

Next on the plan was towards Velocity at Novena Square for shoe shopping, where Derek our FootDoc could land us up to 40% off on Asics, Mizuno, New Balance and Saucony Shoes. The new DS Trainer 12 does not really look as good as it’s predecessor, sporting a rather plain and conservative look available both in red (which everybody liked) and green (which I actually preferred). However, all eyes were set on the Mizuno Wave Creation 8, which has a higher profile than the DS Trainer, but something I would like to try having used Asics Shoes for almost 5 years.

The thing which really amazes me about the Mizuno Wave Creation 8 is it’s durability – 5% lost in effective cushioning after 500km as claimed by Men’s Health Singapore – perfect for long millage freaks like me. I will be able to get the Creation 8 at $139SGD courtesy of a fellow Track Friend (sorry folks this is internal I won’t be providing details on this). Normal bargain retail price is usually $160 from the recommended retail price of $229.
