History of Fuiyoh Uncle Roger Restaurant

The restaurant was established to capitalize on the viral success of Nigel Ng’s Uncle Roger character. It offers an authentic taste of Asian street food paired with the humor associated with the brand. Over time, it has become a destination for locals and tourists seeking a unique dining experience. The KL Pavilion Mall branch is one of its flagship outlets, attracting food enthusiasts and curious fans alike.

The store’s vibrant orange livery is hard to miss and resonates throughout its theme, including the ceilings. It embodies Uncle Roger’s motto of serving the perfect fried rice to the masses. A small photo booth section allows visitors to pose with Nigel Ng standees, simulating the experience of cooking fried rice. The store proudly displays its Guinness World Records, including achievements for the most fried rice tosses and the largest gathering of people dressed as Uncle Roger.

Signature Fried rice Dishes

Furthermore, the menu focuses on traditional Asian dishes with a modern twist. Fried rice, inspired by Uncle Roger’s viral videos, takes center stage. The signature dish, “Fuiyoh Fried Rice,” is prepared with premium ingredients and perfected with wok hei. Unlike Yang Zhou fried rice, it features a darker brown tinge, emphasizing the use of dark sauces.

Flavored fried rice variants are available for 18RM per plate, including Kimchi, Tomato, and Egg Fried Rice in spicy and non-spicy versions. For a reliable choice, the standard Egg Fried Rice, priced at 16RM, delivers a delightful complex smoky flavour with the trademakr slightly burnt “wok hei” taste.

For 12RM extra on top of your fried rice, you can pair your fried rice with sides like Special Grilled Chicken or Smoked Duck Breast as recommendations. Also, these additions enhance the meal, with the chicken being chunky and the duck tender and juicy.

For variety, consider pairing your meal with Stir-Fried Cabbage, priced at 16RM per plate. This dish is great for sharing but unexpectedly spicy. If fried rice isn’t your preference, the Egg Fry Noodle, priced at 17RM, offers a satisfying alternative with a humorous twist. The presentation of dishes is thoughtfully designed, featuring customized cutlery and vibrant colors that align with the restaurant’s theme.

Moreover, their fried rice are best consumed immediately when hot as they do cool and lose their flavour pretty quickly. Also, as we can guess the famed Uncle Roger won’t be always in the kitchens preparing every plate of fried rice to high standards, the store do need to have pretty strict kitchen quality control to roll out quality fried rice everyday here in this Halal certified restaurant.

The Dining Experience

The service is attentive but may slow down during peak hours. The kitchen operates efficiently, ensuring minimal waiting time. A meal for three costs approximately 120RM, equivalent to $36 SGD or $12 per person. Also, do note that a 10% service charge and 6% SST are added to the bill. By Singapore standards, this is affordable, considering a single plate of fried rice at Din Tai Fung would cost a much more pricey $15-$20 per plate.

You can expect signature dishes worth trying, a vibrant atmosphere, and friendly service. Do also avoid peak dine-in hours for a more relaxed visit.
