Apollo Western Food is a popular hawker stall located in Hougang Ave 1, Singapore. The stall has been around for over 30 years and is well-known for its delicious Western-style food. The owners of Apollo Western are a friendly couple. It is a second-generation family-run business.
The menu at Apollo Western is what you expect from a hawker western grille. They feature a range of classic western dishes such as chicken chop, fish and chips, and grilled steak. The stall is particularly famous for its generous portions and affordable prices, making it a go-to spot for hungry diners on a budget.
Try their cutlet dishes
Furthermore, I would recommend Apollo Western’s chicken chop and fried chicken cutlet. The cutlet fillet is tender and juicy, with a exterior crispy skin which adds a nice crunch. Also, your dish is served with fries and baked beans. Their chicken cutlet is Apollo Western’s crowd-pleaser and is sure to leave you feeling satisfied.
When it comes to specific dishes to order, we highly recommend trying the Chicken Chop. It is the stall’s signature dish and is always a customer favorite. This dish comes with a succulent juicy chicken breast that has been well-marinated and topped with their special brown sauce. A gripe is the mix of baked beans and sauce does however makes your crispy fries soggy.
Also, the western store is tad your run of the mill family-run western outlet selling affordable western grill dishes under $8 per pop for the masses. However, on my visit, the portions are tad on the small side. And their signature deep fried dishes like chicken cutlet and fish and chips are rather bland and
The hawker center dining and ambience at Apollo Western Food is also worth mentioning. The stall is located in a bustling hawker center, which adds to the dining experience. Customers can enjoy their food while soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of the center.
Another must-try dish at Apollo Western is the fish and chips. Made with fresh fish that is battered and fried to a crispy golden brown. Also, the dish is served with sides of baked beans, lemon slice and a generous helping of fries. The fish is crispy outside, though I would appreciate the fillets being a larger fillet like what we had at Smith’s Fish and Chips than many small loose fish fillets. The outer crust has a pleasant flaky texture, though you tend to get more batter than fish within.
A chill Hougang neighborhood
Furthermore, every dish prepared to order using only the fresh ingredients. The ordering process is simple and straightforward, you be presented a buzzer after paying at the counter. Cashless payment options and grabpay are accepted too.
Additionally, the hawker center ambience at Apollo Western is relaxed and chill, though tad too quiet at times. It makes for a quiet great spot for a quick meal or a casual dinner in an otherwise rustic neighborhood. The stall is located in the heart of the hawker center, surrounded by other food stalls and vendors selling a range of delicious snacks and drinks.
All in all, if you’re looking to try some delicious Western-style food, then Apollo Western Food is definitely worth a shortlist. With a history spanning over three decades and a menu featuring some of the best classic dishes. Tucked in a quiet hawker and market neighbourhood.
Verdict:
Must Go! | Actually pretty Good | Worth Trying | Shortlist Optionally | Should Avoid
