Let’s take a dine-in today at Rasa Sayang Western food store, a popular hawker-style Western food stall in the heart of Ang Mo Kio Ave 3. For many, it’s more than just a place to grab a meal it represents a fine offering of Singapore’s hawker culture, one which offers a cosy familiar taste and dining experience that has kept people coming back for years.
The stall previously operated in AMK Central out of one of the few S11 coffee shops within the central. The stall has since Feb 2024 had moved to this current HDB coffeeshop location at BLK 347 Ave 3. Despite the move, the stall’s popularity has remained steady. You can find them at Blk 347 Ang Mo Kio Ave 3, #01-2142, Singapore 560347, a short walk from the Ang Mo Kio MRT station. If you’re in the area, it’s worth stopping by to try their famous chicken cutlet or ribeye steak.
History of Rasa Sayang Western
Rasa Sayang Western began operations at the bustling S11 coffee shop, a well-known spot in AMK Central. It quickly garnered attention for its generous portions and tasty Western fare. The stall became a hit with residents, offering hearty, Western-style meals at affordable prices. Recently, the stall relocated to 347 Ang Mo Kio Ave 3. Despite this move, it has retained a loyal customer base while continuing to attract new diners.
The stall maintains a clean and organized appearance despite its simple setting. The elderly owner mans the front of the store, taking orders and payments. Regular patrons continue to seek out the stall for its signature dishes, demonstrating that the move hasn’t impacted its reputation.
Chicken Cutlet Gets a Recommendation
The menu at Rasa Sayang Western offers a mix of western grilled dishes are its core menu. The store owner uncle mans the front of the store mans the front of the store taking orders and payments.
The chicken cutlet ($8.50) gets my recommendation to try. You get a generously sized chicken cutlet, deep-fried crispy and to golden perfection. It has a crisp exterior that gives way to tender, juicy chicken inside. It strikes a balance between crunch and lightness, avoiding the heavy, greasy feel of some fried dishes. The consistent quality of the chicken cutlet has made it a staple offering here and a favourite among regulars.
Moreover, if you’re undecided, the cheaper Chicken Chop ($8.00) is a reliable choice. The run of the mail grilled chicken fillet is served with a rich, peppery brown sauce that enhances the smoky flavour of the meat. Also, all dishes are served with sides of crispy thick-cut fries, baked beans and coleslaw. You have the option to swap out your fries for spaghetti too. These sides are a staple in all their meals, making for a rather satisfying and complete meal. The offerings are simple but well-executed, focusing on classic Western dishes that provide both value and flavour.
Other Notable Dishes
Furthermore, their Ribeye Steak ($16.90) is another popular recommendation. While many hawker steaks are often rubbery and cooked from frozen, their Ribeye Steak is a pleasant surprise. You can have it cooked to your preference and medium-rare gets a recommendation, topped with a brown sauce and thick-cut mushrooms. The premium dish is similarly served with fries, baked beans, and colesaw salad, it’s a more indulgent option at an affordable price. A cheaper alterative is their Sirloin stake priced at $13.90.
Also, the steak is surprisingly tender and flavorful, with the right amount of steakhouse char from the grill. The accompanying mushroom sauce complements the steak without overwhelming it. Though the steak’s thickness could tad be improved, it offers good value for its price point.
Moreover, the fish and chips ($8.00) are sizable, with breading that isn’t airy, with a large chunky fish fillet within with it’s size even rivaling their signature chicken cutlet. Sometimes, their Fish and Chips can be hit-or-miss depending on the day. Occasionally, the fish may be over-fried, resulting in a slightly tough texture. Still, this is no Smiths fish and chips we are talking about here, so if you’re looking for something lighter or more consistent, the grilled salmon fish options might be a better choice.
Pricing and Dining Experience
Most dishes at Rasa Sayang Western are priced between $7.50 and $17, making it an affordable choice for a hearty meal. The value for money is one of the main reasons it continues to attract both regulars and first-time diners. Seating is shared with other coffee shop patrons, and tables have a fast turnover. Finding a table for four is usually manageable, even during peak dining periods. The open seating arrangement means you might be seated next to strangers during busy times.
Queues can get long during meal times, especially during dinner and weekends, but the wait is typically worth it. Waiting times are manageable, averaging about 15 minutes during peak periods. The service is fast-paced yet friendly, with staff handling orders efficiently.

Whether you’re a long-time patron from their days at the S11 coffee shop or a first-time diner, this hawker-style Western stall is well worth a visit.
