A distant cruise ship
The Dubai Heritage center
The old market and cloth/textile souk
The creek is buzzing with a mix of old and new
River taxis berthed by the Temple creekside
Lawl, random jeep loaded on random Dhow
There are many places of worship along the creek
Shaun by the Dhow aft
A hangout in the lower air-conditioned bar areas of the Dhow
And off we go!
Cabs are one of the best ways to get around Dubai
A visit to the textile Souk!
Did I mention... cloth?
Our next stop for the day! The Heritage center!
But first, lets checkout the giftshops!
Mmm niffy, shooty
Mmm shiny...
The place is largely kept to a traditional theme
Complete with old buildings and a creekside walk
not to mention cafes too.
Few of the many points of interest along the hertiage route
Such as open air amphitheaters...
and universities popping out of nowhere.
Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum house
This house is a highlight of the heritage center trip
There are many rooms of interest
Each showcasing part of the history of the house and Dubai itself
Including it's restoration works
including all it's loose bits
and architecture alike
They have detailed replica models to boot too!
The house courtyard, featuring the iconic wind tunnels
You can never fit through easily on the doors here!
A high wall and traditiona Arbain wind towers
will tned to induce subliminal Prince of Persia climbing urges
Arghh! Why doors so small!
More models of how the wind towers work as natural AC
nice
A view of the heritage spot in the past
The marine section
Arabian stamps, which much a british influence by the east india company
Historical currency banknotes
And coins
Display of traditional Arabian jewellery
Photos of daily activities in town involving animal counterparts
Camel riders
And falconers
Ooo narrow staircase to where?
The upper floors of course!
argh we could use higher ceilings!
